Chicago Cubs 11, St. Louis Cardinals 0                The St. Louis Cardinals had just six hits during an 11-0 loss to the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field. The Cardinals surrendered five runs in the bottom of the third, and Erick Fedde was charged with his ninth loss after allowing three runs on two hits in one-and-one-third innings. Kyle Tucker led the offense for the Cubs with three RBI’s, while Nico Hoerner recorded three hits. Seiya Suzuki homered in the victory, while Matthew Boyd earned his ninth win after striking out nine and allowing just three hits over five scoreless innings. Chicago has won five of its last six games and remains in first place in the NL Central at 54-and-36. The Cub visit Minnesota tomorrow night. St. Louis is in third place in the NL Central at 48-and-43. The Cardinals host Washington tomorrow night. Brendan Donovan is heading to his first career All-Star Game. The Cardinals second baseman was named as reserve for the National League team yesterday. Donovan is St. Louis’ only All-Star selection this year. The 28-year-old is hitting .296 with seven home runs and 32 RBI’s this season. Matthew Boyd will be joining Pete Crow-Armstrong and Kyle Tucker in Atlanta next week. The Cubs starting pitcher was named to the NL All-Star team yesterday. Boyd resurrected his career with Cleveland last year, and he’s 9-and-3 with a 2.52 ERA in 18 starts for the Cubs in 2025.

(Undated) — A Dallas Pro Bowler is facing off-field legal troubles. Cowboys kick returner and wide receiver KaVontae Turpin was arrested Saturday by the Allen Police Department and is facing two misdemeanor charges. The 28-year-old was booked into the Collin County Jail on charges of possession of marijuana and unlawful carrying of a weapon. He was released Sunday after posting a 15-hundred dollar bond. Turpin signed a three-year, 18-million-dollar extension with the Cowboys in March.

(Philadelphia, PA) — A former Eagles and Texans player is battling cancer. Bryan Braman is undergoing treatment for an aggressive form of cancer and his agent describes the situation as “extremely” serious. The 38-year-old has already had several surgeries and a Go-Fund-Me was set up to help cover expenses. The linebacker played seven seasons in the NFL and helped Philly win Super Bowl 52 before retiring.

(Washington, DC) — The Nationals shook up their organization after Sunday’s loss. The team fired general manager Mike Rizzo and manager Dave Martinez after a 37-and-53 start to the year. Rizzo had been with the club since 2013, while Martinez was hired by him in 2018. Both were in charge when the team took home the 2019 World Series title, the first in franchise history. Senior vice president and assistant general manager Mike DeBartolo will serve as the interim GM, while the team has not yet announced who will replace Martinez.

(Undated) — The full rosters for the 2025 MLB All-Star Game have been revealed. There will be 19 first-time All-Stars this season after pitchers and reserves were announced Sunday. Dodgers pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Nationals outfielder James Wood and Astros ace Hunter Brown headlined the group of first-time All-Stars. The Dodgers lead all teams with five selections, including pitcher Clayton Kershaw as a special commissioner’s selection. The rosters are selected with starters being elected by fans, 17 players chosen in a player vote and six players selected by league officials. Every club has at least one player to represent their team in the game. The All-Star Game will be played on July 15th in Atlanta.

>>Report: Nuggets Expect Valanciunas To Honor Contract

(Undated) — The Denver Nuggets are expecting to have their new big man on the court with them next season. ESPN reports that Denver has informed center Jonas Valanciunas’ representatives that the franchise fully expects him to honor his contract. The team has said that they will not let the 33-year-old out of the two years remaining left on his deal after he has been rumored to sign with a professional team in Greece. The Nuggets agreed to a trade with the Sacramento Kings for Valanciunas in return for fellow center Dario Saric.

(Silvis, IL) — Brian Campbell is celebrating another victory after winning the John Deere Classic at TPC Deere Run. Campbell took down Emiliano Grillo in a one-hole playoff after finishing tied atop the leaderboard at 18 under par. Kevin Roy and David Lipsky finished tied for third at 17 under. Defending champion Davis Thompson finished tied for 18th at 14 under par.

(Chicago, IL) — Shane van Gisbergen is celebrating a Chicago Street Race victory. The driver of the Number-88 car took home the checkered flag under caution to claim a win in the Grant Park 165. Ty Gibbs, Tyler Reddick, Denny Hamlin and Kyle Busch rounded out the top-five finishers. The result also led to just eight drivers left in the Cup Series’ In-Season Challenge. The field heads to Sonoma Raceway next Sunday.

>>Mexico Downs USA To Win 10th Gold Cup

(Houston, TX) — Mexico has claimed its record 10th Concacaf Gold Cup title with a 2-1 victory over the United States in Houston. Edson Alvarez scored the go-ahead goal in the 77th minute to give Mexico a lead that they would not relinquish. Raul Jimenez also found the back of the net for Mexico in the 27th minute. Mexico is now 6-and-2 against the U.S. in Gold Cup finals. Chris Richards scored the lone goal for the Americans in the fourth minute. It was the earliest goal in Gold Cup final history.

>>Alcaraz, Sabalenka Advance To Wimbledon Quarterfinals

(London) — The first week of action on the grass courts of Wimbledon is in the books. Defending champion and second-seeded Carlos Alcaraz toppled 14th-seeded Andrey Rublev in a four-set battle to advance to the quarterfinals. Fifth-seeded American Taylor Fritz is also moving on along with 17th-seeded Karen Khachanov and Cameron Norrie. On the women’s side, top-seeded Aryna Sabalenka cruised to a straight sets victory to punch her ticket to the next round. 13th-seeded American Amanda Anisimova is also advancing along with Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and Laura Siegemund. The fourth round continues early Monday morning.
