The Fairfield Public Golf Course has announced the cancellation of its 2-Man Shamble tournament originally scheduled for the end of this month.
Course officials cited ongoing course conditions and the imminent seeding of the fairways as the primary reasons for the cancellation. With new grass being planted in the coming days, the fairways will be unplayable, and tournament play could risk damaging the newly seeded areas.
“We’re thinking long-term about the future of the course,” officials said in a statement. “We don’t want to take a chance of doing any harm to the new grass.”
The Fairfield Public Golf Course plans to bring the tournament back next year.
