The Wayne County Board met Thursday evening with 10 members present, addressing several key topics and approving multiple resolutions.
During the public comments, former board member Andy Glover spoke to the board regarding the pending contract approval with the Animal Control/Humane Society. After discussion, the board decided to table the proposal until the August meeting.
In office reports, two resolutions for the highway department were approved. The first appropriates funds for the north approach of County Hwy 1 and County Hwy 2 (the intersection of Enterprise Road and Route 161). The second approves an engineering services agreement for Hwy 13 (Orchardville Road), covering repairs from Hwy 15 north to CR900N.
State’s Attorney Kyle Ellis informed the board that his assistant state’s attorney has left for another job, and he is now interviewing graduate law students to fill the vacancy.
Supervisor of Assessments Jodi Poole addressed the board about the need for an updated computer to efficiently run her office’s software.
In new business, the board approved a resolution for the Wayne County Trustees involving sales accounts and potential equity of three purchased parcels by Lakeside IL Mobile Home Park LLC.
During committee reports, members discussed continued leaking on the new courthouse flat roof, and approved phase 5 of the new heat/AC project, totaling $48,000, to be funded from the remaining ARPA account balance.
