NL Tops AL In First Ever All-Star Game Swing-Off
The National League beat the American League in the first ever Swing-Off in the All-Star Game. Pete Alonso of the Mets hit a three-run home run during the game and Arizona’s Ketel Marte and Corbin Carroll combined for three RBIs to give the NL a 6-0 lead through six innings. Brent Rooker of the Athletics led the AL comeback with a three-run homer of his own, while Cleveland’s Steven Kwan tied the game in the ninth inning with an infield single. In the Swing-Off, Philly’s Kyle Schwarber was named the All-Star Game MVP for clubbing three homers to lead the NL to a 4-3 advantage.

The deal includes over 85-million-dollars in guaranteed money. Gardner is now the NFL’s highest-paid cornerback with an average salary of 30.1-million-dollars. He was selected with the third overall pick in the 2022 draft.

ESPN reports that Kansas City is signing right guard Trey Smith to a four-year, 94-million-dollar contract extension. The deal includes 70-million-dollars guaranteed and makes Smith the highest-paid interior lineman in NFL history. The 26-year-old entered Tuesday’s deadline to sign franchised players to a new contract as the lone player in the league that was set to play the 2025 season on the franchise tag. The one-time Pro Bowler has started 80 of 81 career games since being selected in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL Draft.

Officials say the team’s current lease prevents ownership from starting construction on a new stadium. The Browns are obligated to play in Cleveland through 2028 and would be forced to find a temporary home afterward if the legislation passes.

Five-star outside linebacker recruit Tyler Atkinson announced his commitment to Texas during an appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show” on Tuesday. Atkinson chose the Longhorns over other top programs such as Clemson, Georgia and Oregon. The Georgia native is ESPN’s 14th-ranked overall prospect in the 2026 cycle. He joins quarterback Dia Bell and defensive end Richard Wesley as Texas’ third five-star recruit for 2026.

The 21-year-old missed more than two months last season due to a stress fracture in his right ankle. He has appeared in just 91 regular season games over his first two NBA seasons.

The league announced Tuesday that five players will be competing for the crown as part of WNBA All-Star Weekend. Indiana’s Caitlin Clark, New York’s Sabrina Ionescu, Washington’s Sonia Citron, Los Angeles’ Kelsey Plum and Atlanta’s Allisha Gray are facing each other Friday night in Indianapolis.
