By Mark Wells Jul 16, 2025 | 5:55 AM

Grayville city leaders approved a series of expenditures and agreements totaling $46,358 during Monday night’s meeting. Among the items: an emergency repair of a sewer lift pump on West South Street for $5,756, and $4,710 for the purchase of seven storm sewer drain covers deemed beyond repair by the mayor. The city plans to fund the drain covers using motor fuel tax revenue.

Council members also approved two TIF agreements: $10,000 to support the First Christian Church roof project and $892.19 to help The Liquor Barn repair its drive-thru. Additionally, the council formally issued a budgeted $25,000 donation to the Grayville Days Committee. Following that contribution, the city’s motel tax fund balance now stands at $3,765.

In other business, the Groff Memorial Library Boosters announced they had successfully purchased the neighboring Legion/VFW building and presented the deed to the council. The acquisition will give the library more storage, new space for projects, and additional ground for possible future expansion.

The next Grayville City Council meeting will Monday, July 28th at 7 p.m.
