TODAY MARKS THE TENTH ANNIVERSARY OF A LIFE CHANGING EVENT FOR A FORMER WAYNE-WHITE ELECTRIC COOPERATIVE LINEMAN

Today (Wednesday) marks exactly ten years since a life-changing moment for a Fairfield man, Gerry Kinney.   On Thursday, July 16th 2015, Kinney,  then a lineman for Wayne-White Electric Cooperative of Fairfield, was working doing line maintenance with other crew members in northwest Wayne County when his hand accidentally touched a 7,200-volt power line while in a bucket truck.

Thanks to the quick action of his coworkers, an Air Evac helicopter rushed him to the burn unit at Mercy Hospital in St. Louis, where he spent five weeks and endured eight surgeries. By January 2016, Gerry began reclaiming his independence with the help of prosthetic arms.

Now, Gerry can do almost anything with his prosthetics that he once did before. He will share his incredible story and talk about that day during Morning Mingle with Mark Wells, tomorrow morning (Thursday) on WFIW-FM, 104.9 from 9am to 9:30am.  Tune in tomorrow morning to hear his inspiring journey of strength, recovery, and determination.  You can also listen online at wfiwradio.com
