MORE DANGEROUS HEAT AND HUMIDITY FOR OUR REGION TODAY

By Mark Wells Jul 23, 2025 | 5:59 AM

The National Weather Service in Paducah continues to warn of dangerous heat and humidity across the region this week.

Extreme Heat Warnings and Heat Advisories remain in effect for much of the area today.

Areas under the Extreme Heat Warning can expect peak heat indices between 105 and 110 degrees, or even higher in isolated spots, each afternoon through at least tomorrow.

Regions under a Heat Advisory will likely see heat index values between 100 and 106 degrees daily.

Isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms could provide brief relief from the heat today, but overall conditions will remain dangerously hot.

Residents are urged to:

Stay hydrated

Limit outdoor activity

Check vehicles for children and pets before exiting

Seek air-conditioned spaces whenever possible

Looking ahead, cloud cover and scattered storms may help moderate temperatures from Friday through Sunday, although heat index values could still reach 100 to 105+ degrees in parts of the region beyond Thursday.

Take precautions and stay alert for signs of heat-related illness.
