GEFF GRADE SCHOOL WELCOMES DR. MICHELLE HASSAN AS NEW SUPERINTENDENT

Geff Grade School is excited to welcome Dr. Michelle Hassan for the upcoming 2025-2026 school year. Dr. Hassan joins GGS with over two decades of administrative experience, most recently as the Interim Superintendent of Maywood-Melrose Park-Broadview District 89.

Dr. Hassan began her educator career as a Culinary Arts Teacher in 1989, has served in various Principal-level roles since 2008, and has served in various Superintendent-level capacities since 2019. Specific to GGS’ needs, Dr. Hassan served as the Executive Director of High Schools at Peoria Public Schools and moved a school’s summative designation from ‘comprehensive’ to ‘commendable’ in a few years’ time frame and performed the samefeat at District 89. Additionally, last year at District 89, as Interim Superintendent, she reduced chronic absenteeism from 33% to 21.8%. Specific to Southern Illinois, she has served as a consultant for the Cairo School District, and her teacher certification is from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale.

Dr. Hassan has two adult daughters, both attended Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville. Her oldest daughter followed in her mother’s footsteps and was an educator and is now a practicing attorney with her own personal injury practice and her youngest daughter is in investments. Her granddaughter will be attending PreK this year.

As a mother and grandmother, she is passionate about ensuring that every child receives the highest quality education they deserve.
