In a special meeting held Monday morning, Grayville city officials approved the purchase of a new city vehicle and two salt spreaders.
The city will acquire a 2021 Dodge Ram from Jansen Auto Group in Carmi to replace a 2017 Ford Explorer, which has logged over 94,000 miles. The cost of the new truck is $31,456 and will be paid using Revolving Loan Funds—referred to by Mayor Travis Thompson as “Terrabis Money.”
Instead of trading in the Explorer, city leaders opted to offer it for sale via sealed bid, along with four additional surplus items:
A 1990 Ford F350 Super Duty Boom Truck (179,000 miles)
A 2012 Ford F150 Single Cab Pickup (75,276 miles)
A SCAG Zero Turn Mower with 60-inch deck
A 4-cylinder gas-powered air compressor on a trailer
All items will be sold “as is.” Details on the sealed bid process will be shared soon on the City of Grayville Facebook page. Bids will be opened at the next regular city council meeting on Monday, September 8th.
In other action Monday, the council approved the purchase of two salt spreaders from Meyer Truck Equipment at a total cost of $9,764.
The next regular Grayville City Council meeting is scheduled for Monday, August 11th at 7:00 p.m.
