James “Jim” Curtis Carter, 83, of Enfield

James “Jim” Curtis Carter, 83, of Enfield, IL., passed away on Monday, August 11, 2025, at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro, IL. Jim was born on March 18, 1942, in Carmi, IL, the son of Harold T. Carter and Lucille (Garrett) Carter. He married Kay (Wageneck) Carter on September 8, 1962. Jim was a member of the Enfield Methodist Church. Jim was a longtime grain farmer, and he enjoyed studying the weather and his crops. He was a part of the McLeansboro Elks for 35 years and the White County Farm Bureau. In his younger years he was an avid boater and snowmobile rider.

Jim is survived by his wife of 63 years, Kay; children, John (Carla) Carter of Enfield and Kim (Terry) Woodrow of Clay City, IL; grandchildren, Danielle (Austin) Dillman and Casey (Brianna) Young; great-grandchildren, Luke Dillman, Lane Dillman, Willow Young, and Harper Young. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services for James “Jim” Curtis Carter, 83, of Enfield will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 14, 2025, at Stendeback in Enfield. Burial will follow at Enfield Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 13, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Stendeback in Enfield. Friends may also visit on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jim’s memory to Hamilton Memorial Hospital Foundation, envelopes will be at the funeral home or can be mailed to Campbell Funeral Home, 609 W. Main St., Carmi, IL 62821.
