Marjorie Eileen (Varble) Burger, 91, of Wayne City

Marjorie Eileen (Varble) Burger, 91, of Wayne City, IL passed away on Monday, August 11, 2025 at Mt. Vernon Countryside Manor in Mt. Vernon, IL.  Margie was born on July 3, 1934 in Carrollton, IL to Ruben & Lena (Tillery) Varble.  On April 21, 1951 she married Roland Burger, who survives.  Margie & Roland celebrated their 74th wedding anniversary earlier this year.  She was of the Baptist faith.

 

Margie was a homemaker, and she farmed alongside her husband Roland.  Together, they developed and grew Skillet Fork Farm.  She was born and raised in Greene County, IL before moving to Wayne County in 1958.  She enjoyed camping with Roland and her pet Yorkie “Bear.”  She loved doing yardwork, gardening, and sewing.  She loved spending time with her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids.

 

Margie is survived by her husband Roland Burger of Wayne City, 3 daughters: Vickie (Steve) Winesburgh of Wayne City; Debbie (John) Trotter of Golconda, IL; and Sherry (J.D.) West of Fairfield, IL; a sister Hazel Behr of Highland, IL; 11 grandchildren: Tracy (Crisey) Fenton, Melani (Randy) Spence, Amanda (Luke) Thompson, Jason Trotter, Brandon Trotter, Josh (Rebecca) West, Jody (Karlie) West, Amber Burger, Ashleigh (Tim) Cox, Jordan (Mandi) Burger, and Dalton Burger; 15 great-grandchildren: Eric, Hope, Heath, Addison, Walker, Shelby, Troy, Noah, Elizabeth, Eden, Eliah, Faith, Lorelai, Charlotte, and Tinley; 10 great-great-grandchildren: Brennon, Amiya, Logan, Mason, Greysyn, Leighton, Asher, Briar, Ruth, and River; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents Ruben & Lena Varble; her son Jeffrey Burger; 6 brothers: Earl Varble, Harold Varble, Ray Varble, Clayton Varble, Adrian Varble, and Ruben Keith Varble; 3 sisters: Juanita Wells, Lavina Henson, and Linda Decker; and 2 grandsons: Adam West and Heath Thomason.

 

Funeral services for Marjorie Eileen (Varble) Burger will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, August 15, 2025 at Young Funeral Home in Wayne City, IL.  Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 14 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Young Funeral Home.  Interment will follow the funeral service at Thomason Cemetery in Wayne City.
