A single-vehicle rollover accident occurred on Sunday just before 10am near 670 County Highway 6 in Wayne County. According to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department, a 2008 Chevrolet 4-door driven by 20-year-old Joseph M. Blackford of Fairfield was traveling northbound on County Highway 6when he lost control of the vehicle. The car veered off the roadway to the left and overturned. Fairfield Rural Fire Department and Wayne County Ambulance personnel responded to the scene. Blackford and a female passenger in the vehicle refused treatment at the scene.
A motorcyclist sustained injuries following a crash on Illinois Highway 242 near County Road 050N south of Wayne City and just south of I-64 Tuesday afternoon just after 3:30.
According to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Deputies, the motorcyclist was traveling northbound on Il 242 when they failed to negotiate a curve, resulting in the motorcycle leaving the roadway and striking a tree. The rider, identified as 23-year-old year-old Slayder Renshaw of Dahlgren was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon by Wayne City Ambulance for treatment of injuries.
