Paul Martin Darbutt, 74 of Fairfield

74-year-old Paul Martin Darbutt of Fairfield passed away on Friday, August 15, 2025. Paul was born on December 10, 1950 to Peter and Jessie Mae (Crosley) Darbutt at Terre Haute, IN. He married Charmaine (Halley) on August 31, 1974 in Philo, OH. They have celebrated 50 years of marriage. Paul worked for Airtex Products in Fairfield, IL for 23 years as an industrial engineer. Later he worked for Elastec, Inc. in Carmi, IL as a Methods Engineer retiring in December 2022. Paul was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and liked to fish. Paul is a member of Fairfield Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Fairfield, IL and attended the Plainfield Christian Church. He was a 1970 graduate of Gerstmeyer Technical High School in Terre Haute, IN. Survivors include his wife Charmaine Darbutt; Children Brad (Amanda) Darbutt of Gibson City, IL, Breann (Chad) Higgins of Avon, IN; grandchildren Alexis (Noah) Martin, Sydney Higgins, Royce Higgins; great grandchild Weston Martin; sisters Helen Wenzel of Plainfiled, IN, Martha Krause of Brownsburg, IN; brother-in-law Terry (Becky) Halley; sister-in-law Jody (Randy) Wilson; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, 2 brother-in-laws, and a sister-in-law. Visitation will be from 10 am to 11 am Sat. Aug. 23 at Matthews Mortuary, Brownsburg, with funeral services there at 11 am. Graveside service will be at 1:30 pm in Calcutta Cemetery, Brazil, IN.
