Huck’s Convenience Store at 1st and West Main in downtown Fairfield is in the middle of a major renovation project.
The interior of the store has already been remodeled, and work on the outside is now underway. Monday, crews dismantled the awning over the old fuel station and removed the underground tanks Tuesday.
A new fuel station is being built on the west side of the store where a new entrance has been constructed, but is currently closed off due to the new fuel station construction. A spokesperson for Huck’s says despite the construction, the store is OPEN and access into Huck’s can be through the main front entrance and on the north backside of the store. After the completion of the project, which is expected to take six to eight weeks, the former fueling area will become a brand-new parking lot, designed to ease congestion and provide more space for customers.
