Miami Marlins 6, St. Louis Cardinals 2          The St. Louis Cardinals failed to complete a three-game sweep of the Miami Marlins after losing 6-2 at LoanDepot Park yesterday. Willson Contreras hit his 17th home run of the season in the losing effort, while Andre Pallante fell to 6-and-11 after surrendering five runs on eight hits in five-and-a-third innings. The Cardinals are in fourth place in the NL Central at 63-and-65. They send Sonny Gray to the mound against Tampa Bay tonight.

Chicago Cubs 4, Milwaukee Brewers 3           The Chicago Cubs clinched a series win over the Milwaukee Brewers with a 4-3 win from Wrigley Field. Michael Busch smoked a three-run double in the bottom of the third to put Chicago up for good, and Matt Shaw provided some insurance with a solo home run in the eighth. Colin Rea earned his tenth win after holding Milwaukee to two runs on three hits in five-and-two-thirds innings. The Northsiders are in second place in the NL Central at 73-and-54. Shota Imanaga starts for the Cubs against Milwaukee this afternoon.

>>Week Three Of NFL Preseason Begins Tonight

(Undated) — Week Three of the NFL preseason kicks off with a pair of games tonight. The Steelers will clash with the Panthers in Carolina, while the Patriots and Giants battle at the Meadowlands. Four more games are on tap Friday highlighted by the Chiefs hosting the Bears at Arrowhead. The final 10 preseason games will take place on Saturday. The regular season starts two weeks from tonight.

(Frisco, TX) — Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer is expecting star pass rusher Micah Parsons to be back on the field for the start of the regular season. Dallas and Parsons do not appear to any closer to striking a long-term contract extension, but Schottenheimer said that he feels good about his standout defensive end being on the field against the Philadelphia Eagles on September 4th. Parsons has not participated in a training camp practice this summer, but has been part of walkthroughs and team meetings. The 26-year-old is set to make 21.324-million-dollars this season on the fifth-year option of his rookie deal.

(Undated) — The Broncos and Saints are striking a deal one week before roster’s are cut down to 53 players. Denver is trading wide receiver Devaughn Vele [[ veh-LAY ]] to New Orleans in exchange for a 2026 fourth-round pick and a 2027 seventh-round selection. The Broncos selected Vele in the seventh round of the 2024 NFL Draft out of Utah. The 27-year-old amassed 41 receptions for 475 yards and three touchdowns during his rookie season. The Saints and Broncos go head-to-head in their preseason finale on Saturday in New Orleans.

(Santa Clara, CA) — The 49ers will be without a key member of their receiving corps for the start of the regular season. San Francisco wide receiver Demarcus Robinson has been suspended for the first three games of the season due to a misdemeanor DUI charge. Robinson was arrested last November in Los Angeles and pleaded no contest to misdemeanor DUI in July. The Niners signed the 30-year-old to a two-year, 9.5-million-dollar deal in free agency. Robinson finished last season with 31 catches for 505 yards and seven touchdowns while suiting up for the LA Rams.

(Undated) — The Jets beefed up their defensive line on Wednesday. The Green and White acquired defensive tackles Harrison Phillips and Jowon Briggs in separate trades. Gang Green sent a sixth round pick in 2026, a sixth in 2027, and a 2027 seventh rounder to Minnesota for Phillips. The Vikings will pay 3.7-million-dollars of Phillips’ 7.4-million-dollar salary this season. New York dealt a 2026 sixth round pick to Cleveland for Briggs and a 2027 seventh rounder.

(Undated) — The Chiefs are parting ways with a former second-round pick prior to the start of the new season. NFL Network reports that Kansas City is trading wide receiver Skyy Moore and a 2027 seventh-round pick to the San Francisco 49ers in exchange for a 2027 sixth-round selection. The 24-year-old is set to enter his fourth NFL season after being taken by the Chiefs in the 2022 NFL Draft out of Western Michigan. He has totaled 43 receptions for 494 yards and one touchdown through 36 career games.

(Indianapolis, IN) — The list of injuries continues to grow for one WNBA star. According to ESPN, Fever guard Caitlin Clark suffered a mild bone bruise after tweaking her left ankle during a workout earlier this month. Clark is still recovering from a right groin injury that has sidelined her for the past several weeks. She has been limited to just 13 games this season. Indiana hosts the Minnesota Lynx Friday night.

(Undated) — The NASCAR Cup Series field will hit the streets even harder next season. The organization released its 2026 schedule on Wednesday and a new street course in San Diego has been added. The drivers are also returning to Chicagoland after a six-year hiatus and will scrap the current Chicago street race format. Mexico City was axed to keep the 38-race regular season intact.

(South Williamsport, PA) — The Little League World Series is nearing its conclusion in Williamsport. Connecticut advanced to the US title game with a 7-3 win over Nevada. South Carolina scored six runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to eliminate South Dakota from the tournament. Chinese Taipei took down Venezuela also by a score of 7-3 to reach the international bracket championship. Aruba picked up a 3-0 win over Japan to stay alive in the competition. The event continues with two more elimination games on Thursday. Nevada and South Carolina will square off on the US side of things, while Venezuela and Aruba battle in the international bracket.
