NOTICE ISSUED TO CITY OF FAIRFIELD WATER CUSTOMERS: DO NOT MOW OVER OR DAMAGE WATER METER ANTENNA

The City of Fairfield has issued an important notice to water customers regarding the new water meter antennas being installed throughout the city. Residents are asked not to mow over or damage the antennas, which are used by the city to read water meters each month.
While some residents may already have the new antennas installed, others can expect installation soon as the process continues citywide. The city has stated that it will excuse the first instance of accidental damage to these antennas, but any additional damage will result in charges to the customer. These charges will reflect the actual cost of repair or replacement by the city.
The notice includes a reminder that the portion circled in red in the accompanying photo is the part of the meter that must not be damaged.
City officials thank residents for their cooperation as they work to improve water meter reading technology and service.
