Sandra June “Sandy” (Cheshire) Carr, 65, of McLeansboro, IL passed away on Wednesday, August 27, 2025 at her home in McLeansboro. Sandy was born on August 17, 1960 in Bicester Village, England to Brian & Barbara Cheshire. On September 28, 2022 she married Gary Eugene Carr, who survives.
Sandy worked for Levi Strauss & Co. in Roswell, NM as a Trainer, Thriftway Grocery in Ruidoso, NM as a Manager, Postal Annex in Ruidoso, NM as an Owner/Operator, Hobby Lobby in Mt. Vernon, IL as a Department Manager, and Hamilton County Unit 10 School District in McLeansboro as a secretary. She attended the Dale Community Church in Dale, IL.
Sandy enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, shooting guns, and climbing trees when she was young. She loved talking on the phone with her family and visiting her granddaughters.
Sandy is survived by her husband Gary Carr of McLeansboro, her mother Barbara Cheshire of Huntley, Scotland; her son Matthew Locke of Benton, IL; her daughter Kelly Locke of Midvale, UT; 5 grandchildren: Desmond Locke, Reya Silva, Jaklyn Silva, Ryley Lott, and Jadon Lott; 2 sisters: Gail Arnold of Huntley, Scotland and Diane Hampton of Rothes, Scotland; and a brother Gary Cheshire of Livingston, Scotland.
She was preceded in death by her father Brian Cheshire.
Funeral services for Sandra June “Sandy” (Cheshire) Carr will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 30, 2025 at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro with Pastor Rodney Brock officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 noon on Saturday at Gholson Funeral Home. Interment will follow the funeral service at Pleasant Grove Cemetery, west of McLeansboro.
