Illinois Eastern Community Colleges (IECC) will observe Constitution Day on Wednesday, September 17th with a variety of events and activities across its campuses to promote awareness and study of the U.S. Constitution.
Each of the four IECC colleges will mark the day in unique ways:
Frontier Community College (Fairfield): The Learning Commons will feature a Constitution display with fact sheets available to students and the public. The full text of the Constitution will be shown on a continuous loop on campus monitors throughout the day.
Lincoln Trail College (Robinson): Eagleton Library will host a book display and the County Clerk will be on site to register voters. Instructor Austin Alexander will distribute pocket Constitutions in history classes. Students can also take part in a Constitution-themed search, inspired by the National Treasure movie, with a $50 gift card awarded to the winner.
Olney Central College (Olney): A Constitution Day exhibit will be on display in the Anderson Library, where free Constitution booklets will be available. The educational program Creating the Constitution will be played on monitors in the Library gallery and hallways.
Wabash Valley College (Mt. Carmel): A Constitution Day display will be featured in the Learning Resource Center, with free pocket Constitutions for students. WVC-TV will also telecast a reading of the preamble.
