Marion Ray Hutchison, 73, of Carmi died peacefully at home surrounded by his family. He was born in Fairfield, IL the son of William “Bill” Hutchison and Ruth Marian (Musgrave) West. Marion married Janice Whetstone on June 20, 1981, and they shared over 44 years of marriage together. He was an auto body repairman for many years, and later in life ran a furniture restoration business and was known for his meticulous work. He loved gardening, camping, and just being outdoors. He also was an avid golf fan. He attended Zion Methodist Church. Marion most of all loved his family and spending time with them.
Marion is survived by his wife, Janice Hutchison; two children, Alden Ray (Sarah Nicole Dudan) Hutchison and Amy Danielle (Craig Carter) Degenhardt; five grandchildren, Sophia, Peter, and Ava Hutchison, Elias and Madison Degenhardt; his mother, Ruth Marian West; and one brother, Stephen (Carol) Hutchison. He was preceded in death by his father, Willam “Bill” Hutchison.
Funeral services and burial for Marion Ray Hutchison will be private. He will be laid to rest in Melrose Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Marion’s name to Shriners Children’s Hospital and Disabled American Veterans and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home, 609 W. Main St., Carmi, IL 62821 who is assisting the family with arrangements.
