Norman Dean Mier, 90 of Boyleston

By Mark Wells Sep 17, 2025 | 5:14 PM

Daddy has drilled his last well, he has found his last vein of oil. He took his rig to the yard and parked it. No longer hunting squirrel, rabbit, and deer.  The fishing poles no longer strung. The garden tiller no longer tilling the soil for his 100-acre garden

He is now dancing on the streets of gold as he goes to his mansion. The Lord sent the angels to escort him home Tuesday September 16, 2025. He was greeted by loved ones that have gone before. Our hearts are grieving our loss but rejoicing in knowing he is finally home.

Norman Dean Mier was born September 10, 1935. The son of John Gerald Mier and Mary Magdalena Lovelette Mier at home in Oran, Missouri.

Norman enjoyed his time in the Army. Serving from 1958 to 1964. His main duty station was Hawaii where his father had served. He enjoyed telling about how he was there when they became a state and the celebration they had.

When he came back to the states, he married Mary Ellen Cox and moved to Boyleston Illinois going to work in the oilfield. He worked the oilfield until he retired but always made himself available to many oil companies to look at new prospects of hitting oil. He had a knowledge of rock formations and could tell if a well would hit or they needed to drill to the left right or go a little deeper to hit a vein. Together with his wife they raised 5 children.
