RIB COOK-OFF RETURNS TO FALL FUN FEST

Get ready for a flavorful day of fun and competition in downtown Fairfield. The rib cook-off is back at the Fall Fun Fest this Saturday. Contestants will set up at 8 a.m. in the 200 block on S.E. Second Street, near the Elks Lodge.

Each team will receive three racks of spare ribs to prepare and cook on site. Judging requires a container with four bones, turned in by 4 p.m.

Entries will be scored on taste, tenderness, and appearance, with respective weightings of 2.25, 1.25, and 0.50. Scores range from zero to five.

The entry fee is $30 per team. Prizes include $300 for first place, $200 for second, and $100 for third. Winners will be announced at 5 p.m. Teams must clear their spots by 7 p.m.
