FAIRFIELD MULES FOOTBALL FROM FRIDAY NIGHT
On Friday night, The Fairfield Mules Football Team lost a heartbreaker to Sesser-Vallier-Waltonville at the Trainyard. The Mules’ Logan Tullis started off the night in dramatic fashion, rattling off a 53-yard run on the 1st play of the game. Cooper Berg capped off the opening drive with a 2-yard touchdown run 2 minutes into the game. Fairfield’s Michael Barner followed this with a 21-yard touchdown run with less than 2 minutes left in the quarter. Tullis also tacked on a touchdown before the half. Sesser-Valier matched Fairfield score-for-score throughout the 1st half and pulled ahead by touchdown right before half. Two costly turnovers led to the Mules being shut out in the 2nd half and Sesser-Valier tacked on one more touchdown leading to the Mules first loss of the season. Final score was 34 to 22.
The Mules offense was led once again by Michael Barner who had 20 rushes for 125 yards and 1 touchdown. The Mules defense was led by Aiden King with 6 tackles and Lane Robson with 5 tackles and 1 sack.
The 3-1 Mules will remain at the Trainyard next week for a big matchup with rival Carmi-White County. The 2-2 Sesser-Valier Red Devils will return home for a matchup with CZR.
