NORTH WAYNE SCHOOL BOARD APPROVES BUDGET, POLICY UPDATES, AND NEW HIRES AT MONDAY MEETING

The North Wayne School Board of Education met Monday night, beginning with a budget hearing to adopt the 2025-26 fiscal year budget before proceeding to their regular meeting.

During the regular session, the board approved several items on the consent agenda, including:
Minutes from the August 20, 2025 regular meeting.

Personal leave days and dock days requests.

An FMLA leave request for an employee at Mt. Erie Elementary School.

The resignation of Natalie Hilliard as CHS Assistant Scholar Bowl Coach.

Additional approvals by the board included:

Payment of the September bills.

Approval for Mt. Erie PTO to purchase and install a gymnasium fan at Mt. Erie Gym.

Purchase of a 2017 Chevy Collins bus from Midwest Transit Equipment.

A Memorandum of Understanding with NWEA regarding the Performance Evaluation Reform Act.

The FY 25 Administrator and Teacher Salary and Benefits Report.

Application for the FY26 School Maintenance Project Grant.

Updates to the district’s Bullying Policy.

Initiating the process of replacing the ADA lift at Cisne High School, including authorization to go out to bid as needed.

Transferring $35,000 from the Education Fund to the Tort Fund.

Following an executive session, the board hired Kadence Smith as CMS Volunteer Cheer Coach and Jayden Hatcher as CHS Volunteer Basketball Coach.

The next regular meeting of the North Wayne School Board is scheduled for October.
