TUESDAY HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS VOLLEYBALL SCORES:
On Tuesday night the FCHS Lady Mules Volleyball Team traveled to Hamilton County for their 2nd BDC matchup. FCHS came away victorious, beating Hamilton County in 2 sets, 25-17 & 25-18. The JV team also won their match in 2 sets 25-24 & 25-12. The Frosh team opened the night with a 2-set victory as well, 25-15 & 25-22. The Lady Mules move to 14-5 overall and 2-0 in the BDC with their next game this Thursday @ the Mule Barn vs. Eldorado

The Fairfield Colts Cross Country Team competed in a practice meet at Allendale on Tuesday and had several top-10 finishers including Addison Lawyer-6th and Chloe Esmon-9th on the Girls side and Kaden Hutto-7th, Keith Ukena-8th, and Clay Hooper-9th for the boys.

St. Louis Cardinals 9, San Francisco Giants 8 The St. Louis Cardinals overcame a five-run deficit during a 9-8 win over the San Francisco Giants at Oracle Park. The Cardinals trailed 8-3 through six innings before scoring four runs in the seventh and two in the ninth. Alec Burleson hit a go-ahead single in the victory, while Ivan Herrera and Nolan Arenado both went deep. St. Louis is in fourth place in the NL Central at 78-and-80. The Cardinals send Sonny Gray to the mound against San Francisco tonight.

New York Mets 9, Chicago Cubs 7 The Chicago Cubs are on a five-game losing streak following a 9-7 loss to the New York Mets at Wrigley. The game was tied at seven before Caleb Thielbar allowed a two-run home run to Francisco Alvarez in the top of the eighth. Thielbar was charged with the loss in relief, while Ian Happ and Carlos Santana each drove in a pair of runs. The Northsiders are in second place in the NL Central at 88-and-69. They send Matthew Boyd to the mound against the Mets tonight.

The St. Louis Blues are getting ready for their third game of the preseason. The Blues host the Chicago Blackhawks at Enterprise Center this Saturday. St. Louis has dropped each of its first two exhibition contests, including a 4-1 loss at Columbus on Sunday. This Saturday’s game gets underway at 6:00PM.

>>Jaxson Dart To Take Over As Giants Starting Quarterback

(East Rutherford, NJ) — The New York Giants have reportedly made a big decision at quarterback. A new era begins in East Rutherford, as the Giants will turn to rookie first-round pick Jaxson Dart on Sunday in what will become his first professional start. The Giants are benching Russell Wilson after Big Blue started the season 0-and-3. He threw for less than 200 yards in two of his three starts. Dart has been groomed as the future of the Giants since being drafted, and now, the future is set to begin against the undefeated Los Angeles Chargers at MetLife Stadium in week four.

(Florham Park, NJ) — The Jets made a deal with the Titans on Tuesday. New York has acquired cornerback Jarvis Brownlee Jr. and a 2026 seventh round pick from Tennessee in exchange for a 2026 sixth rounder. Brownlee has started every game since he was selected by the Titans in the fifth round of the 2024 NFL Draft. He is recovering from an ankle injury that kept him from playing in Week Three.

(Houston, TX) — The Texans have made a surprising move by parting ways with a defensive starter following the first three games of the season. Houston released safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson after he played just three games with the franchise. The 27-year-old recorded 15 tackles and had no interceptions or pass breakups this season. The Texans traded left guard Kenyon Green to the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for Gardner-Johnson in March. The defensive back had struggled to pick up coach DeMeco Ryans’ defensive scheme, which has led to several big plays against the secondary and contributed to the team’s 0-and-3 start.

(Tampa, FL) — A star receiver on the Buccaneers is going to miss about a month of action. ESPN reports Mike Evans will be sidelined for three-to-four weeks with a strained left hamstring. An MRI on Tuesday revealed a “mild to moderate” injury. The 32-year-old got hurt in the fourth quarter of the team’s comeback win over the Jets last weekend. Evans has dealt with hamstring issues in the past.

>>Buccaneers Bring Back Big Lineman Desmond Watson

(Tampa, FL) — The Buccaneers are bringing back a hefty lineman. The team re-signed Desmond Watson to the practice squad on Tuesday. The more than 400-pound defensive tackle was cut ahead of the 53-man roster trim down. Tampa was encouraged to see progress in Watson’s weight loss as the undrafted free agent out of Florida was given an undisclosed target goal before coming back to the team.

(Bronx, NY) — The Yankees clinched a playoff berth after rallying for a 3-2 win over the White Sox in their series opener from the Bronx. Jose Caballero hit a walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the ninth to lift the Pinstripes to victory. New York is leading the AL Wild Card and sits one game back of first place in the AL East.

>>OU Quarterback Will Undergo Surgery

(Norman, OK) — Oklahoma Quarterback John Mateer [[ muh-teer ]] is out for a while. Sooners coach Brent Venables says Mateer will have surgery on Wednesday to address a hand injury he sustained in last Saturday’s game against Auburn. Venables says the expectation is that Mateer will return to action sometime this season. He says Mateer is extremely disappointed but is eager to correct the issue and move forward. Venebles says sophomore Michael Hawkins Junior will start OU’s next game against Kent State on October 4th.

>>Alabama LB Latham Suffers Neck Injury In Practice

(Undated) — Alabama linebacker Jah-Marien Latham is being evaluated at a hospital in Birmingham after suffering a neck injury in practice. Head coach Kalen DeBoer said in a statement that Latham had “full feeling and motion” and was being treated at UAB St. Vincent’s Hospital. The Crimson Tide visit Georgia Saturday night.

>>Rangers’ Seager, Semien Out For Remainder Of Season

(Arlington, TX) — The Rangers are shutting down two members of their infield for the remainder of the season. Texas shortstop Corey Seager and second baseman Marcus Semien will not try to return to play this week for the team. Both middle infielders have been sidelined since late August and have wrapped up their fourth season together for Texas. Seager batted .271 with 21 homers and 50 RBIs through 102 games, while Semien hit .230 with 15 homers and 62 RBIs in 127 games. In other news, Jacob deGrom will make his last scheduled start Wednesday against the Minnesota Twins. The 37-year-old is 12-and-8 with a 3.01 ERA through 29 starts.

>>Cavaliers’ Darius Garland Limited In Training Camp

(Cleveland, OH) — The Cavaliers are still expecting one of their star players will miss the start of the regular season. Darius Garland will be limited when training camp opens later this month. The point guard had offseason surgery to address a big toe injury and is slated to come back sometime in November. Garland averaged almost 21 points and seven assists per game last year.

(Brooklyn, NY) — The Liberty are not bringing back their head coach for the 2026 WNBA season. New York announced that coach Sandy Brondello’s contract was not being renewed on Tuesday. The Libs were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs after winning the championship in 2024. Brondello finishes her tenure in New York as the winningest coach in franchise history.
