On Thursday night the FCHS Lady Mules Volleyball Team hosted the Eldorado Lady Eagles at the Mule Barn. The Lady Mules came away with the victory in 2 sets, 25-1 & 25-3. The JV squad also beat Eldorado in 2 sets, 25-9 & 25-6. The Mules Frosh team opened the night beating the Eagles in 2 sets, 25-10 & 25-13
The Cisne Lady Runnin’ Lions defeated Red Hill in 2 sets, 25-10 & 25-12. The JV squad also came away with a victory in 2 sets, 25-19 & 25-21

On Thursday, the FCHS Boys Golf Team traveled to Franklin County for the 18-hole Black Diamond Conference Championship meet. FCHS finished 9th overall as a team and was led by Junior Cruz Wells, who finished 27th, shooting an 89.

The St. Louis Cardinals begin their final series of the season against the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field this afternoon. The Cardinals just took two of three from the Giants earlier this week. (Champaign, IL) — The number-23 Illinois Fighting Illini will try to get back in the win column when they host number-22 USC at Memorial Stadium tomorrow. The Illini were crushed 63-10 against number-12 Indiana last weekend. Illinois is 0-and-1 in Big Ten play and 3-and-1 overall. The Fighting Illini’s last win against USC came in 1989. ESPN is reporting that Los Angeles has signed JJ Redick to a multi year extension following his first year with the franchise. Redick led the Lakers to 50 wins and helped secure the third-seed in the Western Conference in his first season on the sidelines. Meanwhile, the team is leaving star forward LeBron James’ future with the team up to him. James picked up the 52.6-million-dollar option for the upcoming season this summer. The 21-time All-Star and four-time NBA champion is set to begin his eighth season with the Lakers.

(Philadelphia, PA) — The 76ers are already dealing with a serious injury before the regular season starts. The team announced Jared McCain suffered a UCL tear in his thumb during a workout on Thursday. The guard could miss the start of the regular season. McCain averaged more than 15 points in 23 games last year before going down with a meniscus tear and missing the rest of the season.

Dallas forward Jamie Benn is set to miss at least four weeks after undergoing surgery on a collapsed lung. The 36-year-old was diagnosed with the injury during the third period of Tuesday’s preseason game against the Minnesota Wild. He is expected to make a full recovery and will be evaluated by the team in four weeks. Benn is set to enter his 17th season with the Stars. He totaled 16 goals and 49 points in 80 games played last season.

(Sunrise, FL) — The Panthers are hoping their captain avoided a serious injury. Sasha Barkov was helped off the ice during the team’s first full training camp practice on Thursday. The center appeared to hurt his leg and wasn’t able to leave under his own power. Barkov led Florida with 51 assists last season and ranked second in points with more than 70.

(Boston, MA) — The Bruins are bringing back a familiar face to the front office. Former captain Zdeno Chara has been named the Bruins’ hockey operations advisor and mentor. He will be responsible for developing relationships while also strengthening communication between players and the coaching staff. Chara spent 14 seasons in Boston winning the Norris Trophy in 2009 and the Stanley Cup in 2011.
