The Wayne City Village Board approved a 2025–26 ambulance tax levy of $74,500 during its regular meeting last Thursday at 7 p.m. Trustees also authorized the purchase of an odorizer from USDI at a cost of $143,850, with payment to be spread across two fiscal years.

In other business, the board agreed to continue gathering more specific cost estimates for the Keenes sewer project. Resolution #2025-9-1, concerning maintenance under the Illinois Highway Code, also passed unanimously.

A proposed camping ordinance was introduced but tabled until the October meeting for further discussion. However, Ordinance #360-B, which regulates solicitors within the village, was passed.

Future improvements are coming to the village park, as the board approved up to $500 for the replacement of the park’s basketball rims.

Routine business included approval of the treasurer’s report, payment of bills, and updates from the ambulance service, staff, and trustees. Discussion of a proposed Scada system with Sims was tabled until October’s meeting.

Additionally, trustees approved signage for a renter to be placed on a village-owned building, rounding out the evening’s agenda.
