Illinois Leaders Condemn Deployment Of Federal Agents In Chicago, Suburbs

(Chicago, IL) — Illinois leaders are condemning the Trump Administration’s use of ICE and Border Patrol federal agents in Chicago and surrounding suburbs. Governor Pritzker announced that the Illinois National Guard was notified that the Department of Homeland Security sent a memo to the Department of War requesting one-hundred military personnel be sent to Illinois. The governor says there were numerous confirmed reports over the weekend of federal agents abusing their power and intimidating innocent civilians. Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson called the deployment of federal agents in Chicago over the weekend a “disgrace.” Johnson accused the Trump administration of corruption and the profiteering of private prison corporations who are benefiting from the detention of illegal immigrants.

Altamont Man Arrested for Unauthorized Video Taping At Effingham Restaurant

(Effingham, IL) — An Altamont man is accused of illegally video taping in a restaurant bathroom in Effingham. Police say officers responded Sunday to a Golden Corral on a report of an unknown male taking photographs of females in the women’s restroom. Officers located the suspect, Dylan Ritchel, and arrested him. He faces multiple charges including unauthorized video recording. Ritchel is due in court today.

2025-2026 Archery Deer Season Begins Wednesday in Illinois

(Springfield, IL) — The 2025-2026 archery deer season is set to begin this week in Illinois. Archery deer season runs tomorrow through January 18th in counties with no firearm deer season. In counties with a firearm deer season, archery hunting will be open for three separate periods starting tomorrow.
