INMATE DEATH UNDER INVESTIGATION AT SHAWNEE CORRECTIONAL CENTER

The Illinois Department of Corrections has confirmed that an inmate death at Shawnee Correctional Center is under investigation.
According to IDOC, the investigation began after an incarcerated individual was pronounced dead at the medium-security prison on Saturday.
Shawnee Correctional Center, located just outside Vienna along Illinois Route 146, houses male inmates.
No further details have been released regarding the cause of death. IDOC officials say the investigation is ongoing and additional information may be made public at a later time.
