Joan (Frantz) Garner, formerly of rural Crossville, IL passed September 30, 2025, at 94 years. The youngest of four children, she was born January 28, 1931, to George A. and Edna Frantz of rural Arcola, IL.
Joan graduated from Tuscola High School, later earning a B.S. in Education (1953) at Eastern
Illinois State College. For several years, she taught Home Economics at the high school level
including Crossville Community High School.
Joan and Henry C. (Bud) Garner were united in marriage February 16, 1957, in Arcola, IL and
together they enjoyed 60 years of marriage prior to his passing in 2017.
Joan, except for the required task of collecting the eggs, embraced a love of life on the farm.
She was the definitive loving mother, grandmother, homemaker, and caregiver. Those who
knew her always looked forward to her delicious main dishes (Ham loaf!) and desserts prepared
for family, family reunions, as well as church gatherings. In addition to the presence of family,
she very much enjoyed her cats and tending her flower garden. She was a member of Crossville United Methodist Church.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Bud, son Eric, and siblings Don, Dorothy
Romine, and John. Survivors include sons Mark (Beverly), Owen, and Damon, as well as
grandchildren Morgan and Aaron Garner.
