JEFFERSON COUNTY TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO DRUG ARREST AND WARRANT APPREHENSION

Early Saturday morning, a Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputy conducted a vehicle stop on a red Chevrolet truck for a traffic violation on IL Hwy 142 near Gothic Lane in rural Jefferson County. During the stop, the deputy identified the passenger as 53-year-old Boren R. Johnson of Mt. Vernon who was found to be wanted in Franklin County for Failure to Appear on an illegal drug charge.

Johnson was taken into custody on the outstanding warrant. A subsequent search of the truck uncovered illegal drugs, which were seized as evidence. Johnson was arrested for Illegal Possession of Methamphetamine in addition to the Franklin County warrant. He was transported to the Jefferson County Jail, where he remains incarcerated pending his pretrial detention hearing.
