Former Frontier Community College Dean of Instruction, Paul Bruinsma has pleaded guilty to a felony sex charge in Wayne County Circuit Court.

On Tuesday afternoon, the 52-year-old Bruinsma of Wayne City entered a guilty plea to a Class 4 felony charge of grooming. In exchange for the plea, prosecutors dismissed a charge of criminal sexual abuse/sexual conduct with the use of threat or force.

As part of the plea agreement, State’s Attorney Kyle Ellis withdrew his petition to deny Bruinsma pretrial release. Pending sentencing, Bruinsma is required to wear a GPS ankle monitor, have no unsupervised contact with minors, and is prohibited from Internet access. He must also undergo an updated sex offender evaluation.
