Officials with the Illinois Department of Transportation say the north leg of the U.S. 45/Illinois 1 intersection, located just south of Norris City in White County, will be closed for approximately 10 days, weather permitting.
The closure is necessary to allow crews to complete pavement replacement work.
Once repairs on the north leg are completed, the south leg of the intersection will also close for roughly 10 days for similar work.
Throughout construction, eastbound and westbound traffic through the intersection will remain open, but it will be controlled by temporary traffic signals.
Motorists should expect delays and are encouraged to use alternate routes. IDOT reminds drivers to slow down, stay alert, obey all construction signs, and avoid using cell phones while approaching or traveling through the work zone.
