A small plane crashed in a field near the southbound I-57 exit in West City Friday morning after the pilot, who had just taken off from the Benton airport, experienced engine trouble and attempted to turn back.
According to the West City Police Department, the pilot walked away from the crash unharmed and declined medical attention at the scene.
Authorities are investigating the incident, but no injuries or additional property damage were reported.
