ALL CLEAR GIVEN AFTER BOMB THREAT AT DEACONESS ILLINOIS MEDICAL CENTER

Authorities gave the “all clear”  at Deaconess Illinois Medical Center following a bomb threat that prompted an evacuation Friday afternoon. Police were called to the hospital at approximately 12:27 p.m. after staff received a phone call from a female caller claiming there was a bomb on the first floor. The hospital’s first floor and basement were evacuated as police and fire crews conducted an initial sweep.

The Illinois Secretary of State Bomb Squad and two K-9 units later performed a second, thorough search of the building. No explosives were found, and the hospital was cleared to resume normal operations.

Responding agencies included the Marion Police and Fire Departments, Johnston City Police Department, Illinois Secretary of State Bomb Squad, United Ambulance, Illinois State Police, Williamson County Sheriff’s Department, and Crainville Police Department.

Police have not yet identified the caller and are asking anyone with information to contact the Marion Police Department at 618-993-2124.
