The Fairfield Mules and Lady Mules Cross Country Teams participated in the Black Diamond Conference Championship Meet at Dolan Lake on Thursday. The Mules runners took 1st place to win the BDC Championship for the 6th consecutive year. Fairfield’s Treyton Lewis-3rd and Ashton King-4th were named to the All-Conference Team. The Lady Mules runners also finished 1st to win the BDC Championship for the 4th consecutive year. Fairfield’s Emeri Sager-3rd and Remi Taylor-4th were also named to the All-Conference Team.
HIGH SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL:
The FCHS Lady Mules Volleyball Team lost a heartbreaker Thursday night at the Mule Barn versus conference rival Carmi-White County. The Lady Mules lost the 1st set 22-25 but rallied back to take the 2nd set 25-21 before dropping the tie-breaker 3rd set 25-23. The JV Squad beat Carmi in 2 sets, 25-14 & 25-6 while the Frosh team split their 2-set match 25-15 & 23-25. Fairfield’s Jensen Robbins earned her 500th career kill during the Varsity match. The Lady Mules are now 19-9 overall and 5-4 in the Black Diamond Conference.

The St. Louis Blues will try to get back in the win column when they host the Dallas Stars at Enterprise Center tomorrow night. The Blues are coming off an 8-3 loss to the Chicago Blackhawks at home on Wednesday. St. Louis is tied for last place in the Central Division with four points. Tomorrow’s game starts at 6:00PM.
The Chicago Blackhawks will try to extend their winning streak to three games when they host the Vancouver Canucks at United Center tonight. The Blackhawks just earned an 8-3 road win over the St. Louis Blues on Wednesday night. Chicago is in fifth place in the Central Division with five points this season. The Dodgers are now one win away from their second straight trip to the World Series after downing the Milwaukee Brewers 3-1 in Game Three of the NLCS in Los Angeles. The Dodgers take a commanding 3-0 lead in the best-of-seven series. They can complete the sweep in Game Four on Friday. In the ALCS, the Blue Jays notched their second straight win with an 8-2 victory over the Mariners in Game Four in Seattle. Andres Gimenez homered and had four RBIs to help the Blue Jays tie up the series at two games apiece. The Mariners will host the Blue Jays in Game Five on Friday.

(Bloomington, IN) — The number-three Indiana Hoosiers look to stay undefeated when they welcome Michigan State to Memorial Stadium tomorrow. The Hoosiers just beat number-nine Oregon 30-20 on the road last weekend. Indiana is 3-and-0 in Big Ten play and 6-and-0 overall. The Hoosiers have won three of their last five games against the Spartans. Tomorrow’s game kicks off at 3:30PM. In other program news, Indiana signed head coach Curt Cignetti to an eight-year extension worth 93-million dollars yesterday.

The Sixers visit the Celtics on Wednesday.

(Chicago, IL) — The WNBA has selected Chicago to host next year’s All-Star Game. The mid-season showcase will take place July 25th at United Center. This will be the second time the Windy City has hosted the All-Star Game. The night before the All-Star Game, the league will hold the 3-Point Contest and Skills Competition at Wintrust Arena, home of the Chicago Sky. The announcement comes with the 2026 season still in doubt as the league and players have yet to reach a new collective bargaining agreement.

(San Francisco, CA) — The NBA is fining Golden State Warriors forward Jonathan Kuminga 35-thousand-dollars following his ejection in a preseason game against the Portland Trail Blazers. The league said the fine was for Kuminga making inappropriate contact with and pursuing a game official after his ejection. Kuminga confronted the referee over a non-call on a layup then clapped in the official’s face. Warriors coach Steve Kerr defended the incident after the game, calling it a product of Kuminga’s competitive passion and intensity.

(Bronx, NY) — New York Yankees superstar Aaron Judge will avoid offseason surgery on his right elbow after an MRI showed no damage. Manager Aaron Boone announced Thursday that Judge will remain the Yankees’ everyday right fielder in 2026. The two-time American League MVP battled a flexor tendon issue late in the season, but led the league in batting average and hit 53 home runs. Boone expects Judge to resume full duties in spring training. Meanwhile, pitcher Carlos Rodon underwent elbow surgery and is expected to miss the start of the season.
