EDWARDS COUNTY CUSD #1 BOARD OF EDUCATION ANNOUNCES REGULAR MEETING WITH KEY AGENDA ITEMS

The Edwards County Community Unit School District will hold their regular monthly meeting on Monday, October 20th at 7:00 p.m. in the K-12 Band Room.

The agenda includes approval of the consent agenda covering previous meeting minutes, treasurer’s reports, bills, and FOIA reporting. Unfinished and new business items feature prominently, with several motions slated for consideration:

Key action items include:

A discussion and potential action regarding bond work

A motion to approve the tentative 2025 Tax Levy payable in 2026, anticipating a 12% increase in Equalized Assessed Valuation (EAV)

A motion to set a Truth in Taxation Hearing for November 17, 2025, at 6:45 p.m., required due to the aggregate levy exceeding 105% of the previous year’s extension

Approval of the Shrine Football Contract for 2026–2028, with a proposed shift to a 50-50 revenue split

A resolution for the sale of surplus items, including school buses with minimum bids set at scrap value

Administrative reports will be delivered by Superintendent David Cowger and building principals, covering cafeteria operations, sales tax, immunization results, and facilities updates.

The meeting will conclude with a closed session to discuss personnel matters, including appointments, employment, compensation, discipline, and student disciplinary issues, followed by open discussion and adjournment.

The meeting is open to the public.
