Ashley Thompson of Grayville has been chosen as one of several volunteers to help decorate the White House for Christmas this year. Thompson is the wife of Grayville Mayor and Fire
Chief Travis Thompson, and the couple operates Farmhouse Florist in Carmi.
“This summer, I filled out an application and shared my experience along with a direct link to our business,” Ashley said. “I had to write a letter explaining why I wanted to help decorate the White House and provide my availability. I received a letter last week that I was chosen.”
Thompson will join other volunteers on November 28th, 29th, and 30th. “The First Lady will decide the theme, and then we will be divided into teams,” she explained. “We will be given supplies and assigned to specific rooms and hallways.”
Ashley said she is thrilled about the opportunity, noting that she has never visited Washington, D.C., much less the White House.
After completing a mandatory background check, Thompson will receive further information regarding her itinerary and trip details.
