The SIJHSAA State Cross Country Meet will be held today at DuQuoin. Several local Junior High School runners will be participating. They include: From Center Street: Addison Lawyer and Kaden Hutto, from Jasper: Kendall Diesel and Keaton Diesel, from New Hope: Jayson Rawls and Bristol Weber and from Cisne: Leah Angle.
JR HIGH BOYS BASKETBALL:
At the Bluford 7th Grade Shootout, teams from Cisne, Wayne City, and New Hope will be participating.

It was Homecoming night at the Trainyard on Friday night and the Fairfield Mules responded with a dominating performance against CZRE defeating them by a score of 56-12. The Mules offense was on full display with Junior Michael Barner leading the team with 4 touchdowns – 2 on the ground and 2 receiving. Barner racked up 115 rushing yards and 54 receiving yards on the night. Mules running backs Logan Tullis, 115 yards and 1 touchdown, and Cooper Berg, 103 yards, also had impressive performances on the ground, with Grant Otey and Nick Munoz also tacking on rushing touchdowns.
The Mules defense also put on an impressive performance, holding CZRE scoreless until late in the game. The Mules defense was led by Will Lewis with 6 tackles, Nick Munoz with 5 tackles and an interception, and Austin Grieve with 4 tackles and an interception. The defensive play of the night happened late in the 1st half when a CZRE punt was blocked by Aiden King and returned for a touchdown by Keegan Downen.
The 5-3 Fairfield Mules will look to wrap up their season and clinch a playoff spot nextweek on the road against Hamilton County.
