Fairfield Rural Fire Chief David Vaughan reports that firefighters responded to a combine fire at 2175 East, 475 North, south of Fairfield, just after 3:30 p.m. Thursday. The combine, owned by Randy Vaughan, sustained minor damage, and the blaze also spread to the field. Crews remained on scene for about 30 minutes to bring the fire under control.

Earlier that morning, at approximately 7:30 a.m., firefighters were called to a home owned by Paul Burbank on 1870 County Road 1220 North, north of Andrews Acres and just north of Fairfield, after a report of smoke inside the residence. The house, which is a new construction, was believed to have smoke caused by the furnace being turned on for the first time. No damage was reported in that incident.
