The Illinois Department of Agriculture (IDOA) has announced the candidates who have qualified for the upcoming Illinois Wheat Development Board election, which will take place on October 30th.
At-large candidates include Brandon Warren of Wayne County and John Howell of Randolph County. District candidates are as follows:
District 1: No candidate
District 2: Dean Campbell (Madison County)
District 3: Ross Holscher (Crawford County)
District 4: Steve Launius (Washington County)
District 5: No candidate
District 6: Jamie Harvel (Clay County)
IDOA Director Jerry Costello II praised Illinois wheat producers, stating, “Illinois wheat producers play an important role in both our state’s agricultural strength and the nation’s food supply. By working together and sharing their perspectives, growers can help ensure continued innovation, market growth, and long-term success for the industry.”
Qualified wheat producers interested in serving as an at-large or district board member may participate in the October 30th election as write-in candidates. Eligible participants must be of legal voting age, reside in the district they wish to represent, and be qualified wheat producers.
