Mount Carmel city officials are calling for transparency from the Illinois Secretary of State’s Office following the abrupt announcement that the local driver services facility will close on November 14th.
Mayor Joe Judge had scheduled a press conference for today (Wednesday) with State Representative David Severin and State Senator Terri Bryant to address the closure and what officials describe as a lack of clear communication from the Secretary of State. Judge stated that repeated calls to offices in Springfield and Chicago have gone unanswered, leaving the community with little information on the reasons for the shutdown.
