The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), together with the Illinois State Police and law enforcement agencies statewide, is reminding motorists that becoming an “impaired driving monster” this Halloween can lead to real-life horrors. Their message is clear: “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” and “Drive High, Get a DUI.” As IDOT emphasizes, “It’s Not a Game.”

This year’s Halloween traffic safety campaign began October 24th and will continue through the early hours of November 3rd covering the peak period for Halloween festivities and increased roadway activity.

The campaigns, along with stepped-up traffic enforcement, are funded by federal highway safety grants and administered by IDOT. They are supported by the Illinois State Police and local law enforcement agencies across the state.

The effort aligns with IDOT’s “It’s Not a Game” initiative, which highlights the importance of safe driving and preventing impaired driving tragedies on Illinois roads.
