The Lady Mules now move on to the Benton Sectional, where they will face Massac County next Tuesday night at 7 p.m. Massac County was the #1 Seed in the Vienna Regional and advanced after beating DuQuoin in 2 Sets

COLLEGE VOLLEYBALL:
Frontier Community College Bobcats Volleyball team finished among the top six in Region 24 standings and has officially earned a spot in the 2025 Region 24 Volleyball Tournament at Lake Land College in Mattoon.
Frontier enters the tournament as the No. 6 seed and will face No. 3 seed Lake Land College this Saturday, November 1st at 2:30 p.m. The winner of that match will advance to play No. 2 seed John A. Logan College later that evening at 7:30 p.m.

The St. Louis Blues picked up a point with a 4-3 shootout loss to the Vancouver Canucks at Enterprise Center. Pius Suter tied the game in the middle of the third period, but the Blues were blanked in the three-round shootout. Jimmy Snuggerud and Dylan Holloway both lit the lamp in the losing effort. St. Louis is on a six-game losing streak. The Blues make a weekend jaunt to Ohio to take on the Columbus Blue Jackets at Nationwide Arena tomorrow night. The Blues are currently at the bottom of the Central Division with eight points and a 3-6-and-2 record. Tomorrow night’s game gets underway at 6:00PM.

Cooper Flagg and the Dallas Mavericks are set to face Cade Cunningham and the Detroit Pistons on Saturday in the 2025 NBA Mexico City Game at Arena CDMX. It will be the league’s 34th game in Mexico since 1992, which is more than any country outside of the U.S. and Canada. The event will coincide with traditional Dia de Muertos celebrations locally for the second straight year. The Mavs are playing in their eighth game in Mexico, while the Pistons will be appearing in the country for a third time.

Multiple reports announced he becomes the youngest skipper in the league since the Minnesota Twins hired Frank Quilici in 1972. Butera was previously the senior player development director for the Tampa Bay Rays. He compiled a 258-and-144 record over four seasons as a minor-league manager for the franchise. Butera will take over for Dave Martinez, who was fired in July following a disappointing 2025 season.

Rhule is in his third year leading the Cornhuskers with an 18-and-15 record through 33 games. He led the program to its first bowl game since 2016.

(Miami, FL) — Boxer Gervonta Davis is facing a civil lawsuit from his ex-girlfriend accusing him of domestic abuse. ESPN reports the complaint stems from an alleged incident earlier this week at a Miami gentlemen’s club. Davis allegedly dragged Courtney Rossel through the club’s stairwell, kitchen, and parking garage before assaulting her. The complaint notes at least four prior incidents of assault and threats. The suit seeks compensatory and punitive damages and a jury trial. This follows another domestic violence case filed by a different ex-girlfriend that was dropped when the victim declined to prosecute.
