Jerry Guy Schell, 81, of Cisne, IL. passed away Thursday, October 30, 2025, at Carle Hospital in Champaign, IL.
Jerry was born on February 29, 1944 to Cecil G. and S. Elizabeth (Hilliard) Schell in Olney, IL. He married Glenda Lowe on May 29, 1965, at Round Prairie General Baptist Church in Cisne, IL. They celebrated sixty wedding anniversaries together.
Jerry retired as a journeyman tool and die maker and was a farmer. He was called a jack of all trades. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and always looked forward to camping at his lakes with his kids and grandkids. He enjoyed attending school activities to watch his grandkids, and he also enjoyed teaching and helping them with projects. He was always very patient with them. He was known for his large pecans that he grew, and enjoyed passing them out to his neighbors and family.
He served in the United States Army from 1968 until 1970. He was a member of Rock Branch General Baptist Church and attended Providence General Baptist Church.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Glenda Schell of Cisne, IL; two daughters, Angela (Steven) Harrison of Cisne, IL. and Staci (Derek) Mays of Wayne City, IL; four grandchildren, McKensie Harrison, Andrew Harrison, Maddux Mays and Marschell Mays; two sisters, Janice Lowe of Cisne, IL and Betty Kaston of Rockford, IL; sister in laws Judi Schell of Johnsonville, IL, Eula Schell of Jonesboro, AR, brother-in-law Kevin (Ronda) Lowe of Cisne, IL. and sister-in-law Carolyn (George) Matchett of Cisne, IL; also surviving are his nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Cecil and Elizabeth Schell, brothers John, Ivan, Phillip, Roy, and Charles, and his brother-in-law Clifford Lowe.
Visitation will be held Saturday, November 1, 2025, 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Hosselton-Meridith Funeral home in Cisne, IL.
Funeral Services will be held Sunday, November 2, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Hosselton-Meridith Funeral Home.
Burial will follow in Round Prairie Cemetery.
Memorials in memory of Jerry may be given to Union Grove Church Camp and will be accepted at the funeral home.
