Three defendants appeared in Wayne County Circuit Court Tuesday to enter guilty pleas in separate drug-related cases.

Amanda G. Garner, 45, also known as Amanda G. Peters of Fairfield, pleaded guilty to unlawful possession of methamphetamine. She was sentenced to four years of probation and ordered to pay court costs. Garner was also ordered to pay $784,086.63 in restitution to the City of Fairfield, jointly with Marshall Garrison, Terry Keele, and Anthony Vasoli, for damages to the old power plant building.

As part of her sentence, Garner received a stayed jail term of 180 days in the Wayne County Jail, which will be imposed if she violates probation. She was given credit for one day previously served. Per her plea agreement, four other cases were dismissed.

 

Lathan Lane, 27, of Fairfield, pleaded guilty to unlawful possession of a controlled substance. He was sentenced to 18 months of probation and ordered to pay court costs. Lane received credit for one day served in the Wayne County Jail. Under his plea agreement, Count 1 was dismissed.

Michael Sumpter Jr., 52, of Geff, pleaded guilty to unlawful possession of methamphetamine. He was sentenced to two years of probation and ordered to pay court costs. Sumpter was credited for seven days served in the Wayne County Jail. As part of the plea deal, Count 2 and one additional case were dismissed.
