Plans are in place for Fairfield’s annual Veteran’s Day parade, scheduled for tomorrow (Saturday) afternoon at 2 p.m.
The day will begin with a breakfast for veterans and their families from 7 to 9 a.m. at the Catholic Church. Those planning to attend are asked to contact Dennis Zurliene at 618-599-8168 so organizers can prepare accordingly.
A flag-raising ceremony will follow at 1 p.m. at Freedom Park in downtown Fairfield. The Fairfield Community High School Show Choir will perform the national anthem, and a concert by The Roasted Chestnuts will take place immediately afterward.
The parade will begin at 2 p.m., with lineup starting at 1 p.m. on North First Street. No entry forms are required — lineup will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
After the parade, all participants are invited to a meal at the Wayne County Senior Citizens Building on Main Street, sponsored by FNB.
Organizers encourage all civic groups, churches, schools, clubs, and individuals to join in honoring area veterans by entering floats or marching in the parade. For more information, contact Clifford Reever at 618-516-3111.
