The Ninth Annual Veterans Quilt Giveaway took place on Saturday during the Veterans Breakfast at St. Edward’s Catholic Church.
Veterans in attendance had the chance to register for one of four handmade quilts, created and donated each year by Sharon and Amanda White in memory of Sharon’s father, Clifford Shreve, a World War II veteran.
Shreve served as a Tech 4 in the Army HQ Co 129 Ordnance Maintenance Battalion, 7th Armored Division, from January 16, 1942, to October 23, 1945, and earned multiple honors, including the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with four Bronze Battle Stars and two Overseas Service Bars.
Sara Wilson of Foxville Quilting in Kell completed the quilting work. This year’s quilt recipients were Carroll Koker, Lester Cargill, Clifford Reever, and Alan Kemp.
