Parents of Carmi White County students are demanding answers after a fan bus reportedly took a wrong route home following the volleyball super-sectional game Monday night at Shelbyville.

According to parents, the driver traveled in the wrong direction for an extended period, heading southwest instead of southeast and making it as far as Bond County, Illinois, before realizing the mistake and turning back. Some parents said they were able to track the bus’s location in real time through family safety and location-sharing apps.

Media reports out of Carmi says Carmi White County school officials have so far declined to comment directly on the incident, offering only a brief statement emphasizing that “student safety is paramount.” but many are still calling for accountability and clarification about what happened. Reports indicate school administration assisted on getting the bus back to Carmi with parents reporting the bus and all students returned safely to Carmi around 2 O’clock Tuesday morning.
