ILLINOIS OILFIELD MUSEUM TO HOST ILLINOIS BASIN CELEBRATION THURSDAY

The Illinois Oilfield Museum in Oblong will host the Illinois Basin Celebration tomorrow (Thursday) honoring oil patch workers and highlighting the industry’s history and safety practices.

All Illinois Basin oilfield workers are invited to attend. The event will feature a complimentary lunch and free “Illinois Basin Proud” merchandise, including hoodies, t-shirts, hats, flags, and bumper stickers.

The day’s theme focuses on oilfield safety and history. Activities begin at 9 a.m. with Petro Pros presentations for Oblong High School business students, followed by a 10:30 a.m. safety presentation from Shawnee Oil Co. Vice President Mike Payne.

Lunch begins at 11:30 a.m., featuring remarks from former oilfield worker Mark Weiler. A group drone photo will be taken at 12:30 p.m., and the event wraps up with a museum tour and Petro Pros presentation for Hutsonville Junior High students at 2 p.m.

The Illinois Oilfield Museum is located at 10570 Farley Road, Oblong.
