State Representative, Dave Severin of Benton praised the work, saying, “This is an impressive renovation, and it’s exciting to see real steps toward reopening a facility that means so much to people in southern Illinois.”
The resort, which once drew more than 2 million visitors annually, is expected to finish most renovations by spring 2026, with the Flagship Boatel completing slightly later. After structural work is completed, a vendor will be selected before the resort can officially reopen.
